Years of Community Advocacy
We help them rebuild stronger more resilient for the future. Together with supporters like.
Guided by compassion and a commitment to dignity, we place the needs and voices of the people we serve at the heart of everything we do.
We work hand in hand with communities, local organisations, and global networks to create solutions that endure.
The story of Mwangaza begins long before the organisation was officially born. Communities living in Kabondo East Ward, Homa Bay County, Kenya, have long faced overlapping challenges: limited access to clean water, food insecurity, poor infrastructure, and inadequate healthcare. For decades, these realities were simply endured.
After equipping members through training in Basic Advocacy, Turning the Tides (TTT), Financial Literacy, and Environmental Conservation, a group of dedicated community members took a bold step. In 2024, they formally registered Mwangaza Integrated Community Based Organisation — a grassroots organisation built by the community, for the community.
Our mission is to bring hope, resources, and opportunities to communities in need.
The specific and achievable objectives of the CBO
are:
Building food security from the ground up for communities in Kabondo East.
Protecting land, water, and climate for the generations to come.
Equipping communities with the knowledge needed for better, healthier lives.
Lobbying at every level for the rights every Kenyan deserves.
Mainstreaming inclusion and women’s health across all programmes.
Building strong alliances from local community to national government.
AfriNov’s situation analysis of Kabondo East Ward identified six critical, interconnected challenges that hold communities back.
Every action, no matter how small, can make a world of difference in the lives of those affected by disaster. Whether it’s a donation.
