Advocating for communities since the year 2000

25+

Years of Community Advocacy

Helping people rebuild and prepare

We help them rebuild stronger more resilient for the future. Together with supporters like.

Putting people first in everything we do

Guided by compassion and a commitment to dignity, we place the needs and voices of the people we serve at the heart of everything we do.

Building lasting change through partnership

We work hand in hand with communities, local organisations, and global networks to create solutions that endure.

Our History

The story of Mwangaza begins long before the organisation was officially born. Communities living in Kabondo East Ward, Homa Bay County, Kenya, have long faced overlapping challenges: limited access to clean water, food insecurity, poor infrastructure, and inadequate healthcare. For decades, these realities were simply endured.

After equipping members through training in Basic Advocacy, Turning the Tides (TTT), Financial Literacy, and Environmental Conservation, a group of dedicated community members took a bold step. In 2024, they formally registered Mwangaza Integrated Community Based Organisation — a grassroots organisation built by the community, for the community.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Purpose: Mission and Vision for Kabondo East

Our mission is to bring hope, resources, and opportunities to communities in need.

Our mission is to develop efficient and healthy communities through sustainable food security and livelihoods, environmental conservation, health and social education, human rights and advocacy, gender equality and mainstreaming, and partnerships and networking — with the goal of improving the quality of life for community members.
Our vision is an improved, empowered, and transformed society. We see communities where every person has access to food, clean water, education, and healthcare — and where dignity and opportunity are not the exception, but the norm.
